Chord Electronics introduces the Mojo 2, a next-generation FPGA-based portable DAC and headphone amplifier embedded with advanced proprietary technology. Building on the multi-award-winning Mojo and adding exciting new features plus improved performance, the Mojo 2 features a class-leading custom-coded programmable chipset to offer unrivalled technical performance and peerless sound quality. Mojo 2 utilises a powerful, custom-coded FPGA processor and benefits from several unique technologies. It includes a new menu feature navigated via the new (fourth) control sphere, bringing mute, crossfeed, button-lock and tone control adjustment with advanced UHD DSP, plus five digital inputs, including USB-C and Wireless compatibility via Chord Poly. Chord Mojo 2 uses proprietary British Digital Audio Technology perfected over more than two decades, now coupled to a powerful custom-coded ‘FPGA’ processor for unmatched digital-to-analogue conversion of audio signals. The result is class-leading sound quality both on the move or at home, with the power to effortlessly drive any headphones. Mojo 2 contains more digital audio know-how than any other portable DAC, all backed by peerless technical measurements from the lab. Chord Mojo 2 benefits from the world’s first fully transparent ‘Ultra HD DSP’ technology. This proprietary technology uses a 104-bit custom DSP core running at 705/768 kHz. By using 104 bits plus extensive internal noise-shaping, Mojo 2 can deliver complete transparency by preserving the filtering of ultra-small signals. The UHD DSP offers fine-tuning capabilities across the entire frequency spectrum with 18 steps of adjustment per frequency band, from the lower bass, mid-bass, lower treble and high treble. The volume control range has also been upgraded from +18 dB to -108 dB and now benefits from two distinct operational ranges - low and high volume. The new technology gives Mojo 2 unrivalled compatibility with today’s wide-ranging choice of headphones, regardless of the type and sonic signature, plus flexibility with different source components and digital file types. A new four-setting cross-feed function, also DSP-controlled, brings speaker-like spatial effects for flexible headphone listening.

Chord Mojo 2 now comes with USB Type-C connectivity so you can connect various Type-C devices and enjoy your music with reliable and outstanding performance. USB Type-C connectivity adds greater flexibility in terms of connectivity while improving audio transparency, thanks to an upgraded noise-shaper for lower distortion and greater neutrality in your music. The Chord Mojo 2 is now DC-coupled with a digital DC servo, elevating the performance. It benefits from an improved WTA (Watts Transient Aligned) filter, now offering 40,960 taps (the technical indicator of how complex the interpolation filter is), using 40 DSP cores. Additionally, an improved noise-shaper delivers greater depth and detail perception, plus improvements to the 4e Pulse Array DAC introduce lower distortion and out-of-band noise. Greater neutrality has also been achieved by eliminating coupling capacitors.

Chord Mojo 2 benefits from greatly improved battery life thanks to a new FPGA-based battery-charging system. This tech fetches much faster-charging rates, coupled with a 75% reduction in power loss for cooler and more efficient charging. Battery capacity is up by 9%, resulting in better efficiency and improved battery life, which is now more than eight hours with continuous use. Chord Mojo 2’s established ‘Intelligent Desktop Mode’ technology has also been improved, with an isolated battery and PSU redesign to support battery-free operation without any losses in sound quality, plus improved filtering and isolation.

The Chord Mojo 2 is designed, engineered and handmade in the UK. It benefits from high-grade, bead-blasted aluminium casework, finished with a high-quality black anodise. The exterior body is a robust CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminium chassis that is super sturdy. The primary controls are offered via four polychromatic polycarbonate control spheres placed in front of the Mojo 2 for easy access. The Mojo 2 expands in connectivity front with Five digital inputs - coaxial, dual-data coaxial, optical, Micro-USB and USB-C. Two 3.5 mm headphone outputs are embedded for shared listening or headphone comparison. The Chord Mojo 2 is Wireless-ready when paired with the Poly streamer/server, enabling high-resolution streaming and up to 2 TB of solid-state library storage and playback when using the microSD card slot.
