For an ultra-high-end audio performance, the TOPPING D90SE employs a highly advanced ESS SABRE ES9038PRO DAC chipset featuring 32-bit Hyperstream architecture. Each channel of the D90SE is arranged in parallel by 4 conventional balanced channels for a whole new level of audio excellence. The D90SE is uniquely designed to carry out independent I/V conversion for the 8 channelled ES9038PRO DAC chip and bring them together in parallel, to highlight the real potential of the "4 x DAC parallel connection". This unique tuning makes the D90SE stand out from other DACs that use the same chipset.

The Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) is an audio codec approved and authenticated in the studio. It all begins with audio capturing and recording after which the MQA folds the file to make it suitable for streaming in a process called music origami. The entire goal behind this process is:
1. To offer audio that's better than CD quality on any device
2. To offer original master recording when paired with an MQA decoder

Taking audio performance to a whole new level, the TOPPING D90SE offers less than 0.00005% of Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise (THD+N) while the Signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SINAD) is at 126dB @ 1Kz which means that the music you listen to on the D90SE sounds clear and highly detailed.

Certified for Hi-Res Audio Wireless and LDAC, the TOPPING D90SE comes with a CSR8675 chipset. This chipset extends support to a range of audio codecs including SBC, AAC, AptX, AptX LL, Aptx HD and LDAC. To ensure uncompromised sound quality over Bluetooth 5.0, the D90SE decodes its digital signals using the highly advanced ES9038PRO, instead of the in-built CSR8675.

With easy plug and play convenience, you can pair the TOPPING D90SE with almost any audio device supporting Windows 10, MAC, Linux, iOS or Android. Kindly note that if you are using the D90SE with your PC, you will have to install and set a custom Thesycon ASIO driver (For Windows 10). The MAC however does not need a driver to achieve ASIO.

The installation of 2nd-gen 16-core XMOS XU216 enables the TOPPING D90SE to support full MQA decode along with PCM32bit768kHz and DSD512 native. The MQA support on the TOPPING D90SE is not limited to USB input but includes Coaxial, Optical and AES inputs as well. This allows you to listen to your music in a higher than CD-Quality sound. All the inputs mentioned above are compatible with all the 3 MQA formats: Renderer, MQA and MQA studio. Regardless of which inputs you use, the D90SE will always have a jitter-free output as it uses CLPD to process the clock and to optimize the digital signal that brings down the jitter to as low as -160dB.

If you are keen on sending the IIS signal directly to the ESS9038PRO DAC chip of the D90SE, use the HDMI cable as it helps the chip with better audio decoding. Compatible with up to PCM32bit768kHz and DSD1024native, the dedicated IIS input on the D90SE pairs seamlessly with almost all digital interfaces that use HDMI to deliver IIS signals. Explore a range of settings on the IIS input including phase settings, DSD channel settings and DSD indicator pin selection settings.
Note: Kindly note that the IES function uses the HDMI interface to transmit IIS signals and not the standard HDMI signals. Therefore it cannot be connected to the HDMI interface on your PC, TV and Setup box.

Featuring balanced XLR output along with single-ended RCA output, the TOPPING D90SE has enough space for all kinds of audio setups. Choose either "XLR only", "RCA only" or "XLR+RCA" selectable outputs for all possible applications. To widen the scope of applications the TOPPING D90SE has versatile XLR 4V/5V and RCA 2V/2.5V outputs that take audio performance to a whole new level. If you select XLR 4V and RCA 2V, you can use the D90SE with more devices whereas with XLR 5V and RCA 2.5V the performance goes up a notch.

While you can use the TOPPING D90SE in the DAC mode, which gives you a fixed output level, you can use the D90SE in the DAC+Preamplifier mode as well. Under this mode, you get to control the volume output using either the front panel or the remote control. For best results, you can pair the D90SE with a power amplifier or monitor speakers.

Engineered with a completely balanced NFCA module, the TOPPING D90SE offers 0.2uV ultra-low noise, 0.00006% ultra-low THD+N and 0.1-ohm output impedance. WIth wide gain setting and high output voltage, the D90SE can be paired with almost all kinds of headphone amps. Having said that, pair the TOPPING D90SE with the TOPPING A90 headphone amplifier for the best possible audio setup. With the TOPPING D90SE, you get 2.1Vrms @0dBFS (4VMode) and 2.6Vrms @0dBFS (5VMode) for RCA output. Whereas for the XLR output, you get 4.2Vrms @0dBFS (4VMode) and 5.2Vrms @0dBFS (5VMode). Additionally, the output impedance on both the RCA and the XLR output is 100Ω.
